Lady of the House was announced today (8 March) on International Women’s Day and features interviews with Ellen Allien, DJ Paulette, Candi Staton and more.
A kickstarter campaigned was launched to print and distribute this book, it will chronicle women “who have contributed, and continue to contribute, to making the house music scene.”
The book, Lady of the House, was written by Bristol-based promoter and artist manager Laila McKenzie. It features images, interviews and insight from over 120 DJs, vocalists, producers and more. Names like Candi Staton, DJ Paulette (pictured), Sam Divine, Ellen Allien, Barbara Tucker, Ultra Naté and more feature in the new book. There’s also a foreword penned by Carl Cox.
The Kickstarter campaign for Lady of the House is now live. McKenzie is aiming to raise £25,000 via community participation to cover printing and distribution costs.
