Latest hypehypehype thingy doing the rounds.

RA / P4k etc getting all caught up in it. Loads of folks giving off cause it's all twee, gimmicky, style over substance. Journos loving it cause it gives them an angle. Though sticking the "Its punk!!!!11!" stamp on it is as lazy as possible imo.

They are doing a showcase of it at Unsound. Will try and check it out - unless it's clashing with something I actually like - just to see what sort of reaction it gets. Things like this gets one curious if people really give a shit about it IRL. The Boiler Room performance get's a very very flat response...

calling any of it subliminal is giving it far too much kudos

That Hey QT tune was stuck in my head for days when I listened to it first. Similar to some of Rustie's stuff from Glass Swords I think. don't know much aboutt he hype/backstory etc

the odd vaguely catchy song, but it's mostly absolute shite tbh.

will be another embarrassing fad to look back on in a couple of years.

When I heard Bipp by Sophie I'd never heard of PC Music or other tunes from the scene.  I thought it was catchy and a funny pisstake of modern pop music.  Ultra present sounding and going for that cutiepie, yet hypersexual thing you get from the likes Miley Cyrus.  But fuck me I don't want to hear it in a club and as a scene it's just the nu nu rave.

I checked out the sophie boiler room. It seems like it'd be a proper endurance test to listen to a lot of it at the one time. But then thats part of it's whole shtick innit. Churned out for free for the net for kids with ADHD who just flick from song to song with 73 tabs open.
