The Big Grill BBQ Festival's 2nd Helping

To whet your appetites further, we’re unveiling a second helping of treats for the Big Grill Festival...

The biggest news is that Senior Sous Chef at Jamie Oliver’s London Barbecoa Restaurant, John Relihan, will be hosting all our demos & workshops at the Grillster Academy throughout the weekend. Check out all our food & drink additions below (including some vegetarian), as well as info on our competitions & John’s demos.

More Smoke & Fire...

Adding to the smoke & fire we’ll have the Grill @ Donnybrook Fair, homemade sausage outfit Pig’s Tale, Bavarian lumpwood gang Fire Foods, California based rub & sauce specialists Red Dog foods & Frank’s hot sauce straight outta Louisiana. John Relihan’s team will be manning ‘Carnivore Corner’ cooking whole animals primitive style over open flames. At the complete other end of the spectrum our vegetarian options will include Diep Vietnamese salad, grill corn on the sheath, Kinara’s chick pea salad on naan & much more.

More Brews...

On the beer front, joining Rascals, Trouble Brewing & Eight Degrees will be Dan Kelly’s Cider and the Brewtonic International Bar feat Punk IPA, Dale’s Pale Ale, Orpen’s Cider. Camden Town Helles, Founder’s Raspberry Ale & many more. Wineonline.ie will host our wine bar with a top selection of white & red wine, prosecco as well as some Daiquiri wines & sherry.  Soft drinks will be manned by John Lemon Lemonades, while the infamous 3FE will handle the coffee brewing.

Grillster Academy...

Hosted by John Relihan, presently senior sous chef at Jamie Oliver's Barbecoa restaurant in London. John will be running a series of demos & workshops including how to cook the perfect ‘man steak’, beer can chicken with smoked baked beans, pork filet with charcoal roasted veg & chipotle glaze & pulled pork, as well as grilling techniques, charcoal selection & rubs. Timetable for the demos will be released soon.

 

 

Ready Steady Q...

Our BBQ competition hosted by Toby Shea (3rd Place Memphis in May, Whole Hog Cook). Big Grill goers will be encouraged to take part and cook up their choice of meat, sauces & rubsunder the clock to see who is the best Q'r. A kids Qing comp will also run, with prizes for the winners.

(Wo)manly Competitions...

Frank's Hot Wing Challenge & the Big Blue Bus spicy pizza challenge will see who has the toughest challenge, while thepulled pork sambo challengewill find who has the biggest belly. These competitions will run throughout the weekend.

Not Just about the (g)rub...

 Top DJs programmed by Discotekken will be laying down a soundtrack of funk, soul, blues, brass, hip-hop & disco along with some dry-aged classics. DJs on the bill include Scope & Splyce (Choicecuts), 45s king Baz Hickey, Billy Scurry, Lex Woo & iZem.
