The Big Grill 2015 Plates Up

After a sell-out first year, The Big Grill is back in 2015 with even more additions to the platter...

The Big Grill BBQ & Craft Beer Festival returns to Herbert Park this August 13th-16th...

The first round of our program is now live at www.biggrillfestival.com along with various ticket packages.

We've added loads more to the schedule this year including some of the world's best BBQ stars like Levi Roots & Tyson Ho; live music & international acts including DJ Yoda & Stompdown Brass Band; a full program of talks/demos from Banter, 3FE, Weber Grill Academy; Ireland's first low n slow BBQ competition, a chilli cook-off, Tug of War, a small batch liquor & cocktail bar; and sausage & pudding making.

Furthermore the Big Grill will kick off with an extra day starting on the Thursday, and we’ll be offering daily whole animal cooks, sample size portions, games area & a larger kids area.

Some of our biggest highlights this year include our selection of world famous BBQ celebs.

Levi Roots - UK celeb chef, singer & creator of Reggae Reggae Sauce. Levi will be giving traditional Jamaican Jerk chicken demos and taking part in a Banter talk on the Sunday of the event.

Andre Lima de Luca - Brazil’s first ever certified Pitmaster and owner BOS BBQ, focusing on Texas style BBQ meshed with his own Italian-Brazilian roots, cooking with traditionally smoking methods.

Tyson Ho, founder of Brooklyn’s arrogant swine will be specialising in the infamous Carolina Whole Hog BBQ for the weekend.

John Relihan, head chef at Jamie Oliver’s Barbecoa restaurant (and our star demo chef from last year) returns this year to specialise in Irish BBQ with wild game & seafood.

Peter Griffiths of Grillstock: head pitmaster at one of the UK’s leading BBQ festival & smokehouse, Pete will be honing in on the low ‘n’ slow smoking techniques of the deep south USA.

Part of the music on the weekend will come from DJ Yoda - one of the world’s most fun & technically gifted DJs. Q Magazine cited him in ‘the ten DJs you must see before you die’. Yoda will be cooking up a mix of funk, pop, reggae and even some big band swing and country & western.

Dublin’s Stompdown Brass Band will be bringing some New Orleans street party vibes, while Mama Kasbah will rock out their hugely energetic gypsy-swing. Our full music progam is to follow.

Our talk area will see sessions with Jim Carroll (Irish Times) & Bodytonic’s popular Banter series, coffee celeb Colin Harmon of 3FE hosting his Munch & Gargle podcast series live as well as giving live coffee brewing demos using fire.

The world’s number one BBQ brand Weber will be hosting their ‘Grill Academy’ with hourly demos and Q&As, showing a wide range of recipes, top tips & techniques to try at home from grilling to roasting & smoking.

Bushcraft will also be on hand to provide campfire cooking demos, and there'll be a pudding & sausage making session.

This combined with a huge range of top restaurant vendors, Irish craft beers & ciders, wines selected by O’Briens, small batch liquor selections, and plenty more to be announced, 2015’s Big Grill is set to be a weekend of great fun, discovery and taste bud tickling.
