Meet the artist: Bren B
Bren B is an illustrator who's worked with CSS, Feist and Sony. Bren is a regular at Electric Picnic where you can see him giving sweet talk lectures to kids who get lost en route to some "secret rave in the woods" Bren launched the magazine Toenail Clippings which was nominated for best new comic at the International Comic Angouleme. Bren is a really nice guy who would be happy for any of you to drop by for some tea and biscuits next time you're going through Stoney Batter.
Has your job ever got you laid, free drink, arrested?
Hmmm, not directly, yes and no.
What did you want to be as a kid?
A comic drawing, private investigating centre forward for Liverpool who worked part-time as an archaeologist and zoo keeper! So I guess my life has been a complete failure, well I have drawn comics I suppose.
What's the best tool of your trade?
I suppose it would be a combination of (in no particular order) the internet, my Wacom Tablet, pencils and pens, my hands, my easily distracted brain, Photoshop, my huge photo/reference library and my winning smile!
Why did you choose these three images?
I thought I'd show some music related images.
How would you describe them to a blind person?
I wouldn't describe them, I'd make a clay model of them like that chick in the Lionel Ritchie video for Hello.
If your art was music what would it sound like?
Carrying on from Brians Coldrick's response my work sounds like the theme tune to TAXI (78-83)
Slate yourself.
I work too hard for charity and I'm a compulsive liar.
Big up yourself.
I've hung in there through the lean years and now I'm stronger than ever!
How far have you gone for your art?
I'll do what it takes, don't you worry. Now take your top off.
I want more Bren B
