Whats the Twist?

A long time in the pipeline and now after a crater load of paperwork we've finally opened our first club venue The Twisted Pepper. Exactly two years ago, we opened the Bernard Shaw Pub in Portobello turning it from a dirty old man's boozer to a dirty err...younger man's boozer, replete with our own anything goes den of chat, music, art, workshops, carboot sales, badge making competitions and graffiti has been, and still is, a great learning experience for us in managing a venue. Opening the Twisted Pepper is the natural big step up for us and a goal we've been striving to reach since day one; to have our own club & venue. In many ways it’s a dream come true.

Split in 4 main areas, the Twisted Pepper has a space for live gigs, club nights, reservations and small parties.

The Stage:

300+ capacity space for AV, live or DJ performances

The Basement :

250 Capacity club space with one of the most spec'd out DJ booths around.

The Cafe:

At the moment just a space for chatting and drinking, but in 2009 we'll start serving food and cocktails. Also full spec'd out for DJ performances.

The Mezz:

30-50 capacity space that overlooks the Stage room, but also features wooden shutters to become its own private space, a giant plasma screen, full bar, and again spec'd with sound and light. Can be used as a space for reservations, small parties, chill out space, movies, AV screenings or art installations.

Thursdays

Mr Jones

Thursdays nights the Twisted Pepper becomes Mr Jones' house, honing in on a yet un-tagged musical style fusing together house/electro/bassline/Baltimore/Kuduro and all those other gritty urban genres in between. Mr Jones also teams up with a number of local collectives including the Crafy Beggars click for a monthly art & photography expo, "We Got Your Fashion Right Here" which showcases the latest clobber by young Dublin designers, as well as the Analogue Magazine crew who host a nice selection of live bands & performances.

Fridays

Mud

Fridays are MUD and all about one thing: BASS. MUD focuses on a range of Drum n Bass/Dubstep/Breaks/Baltimore/Dancehall/Hip-Hop etc over 2 floors and is hosted by a team of well established Dublin promoters & DJs on monthly rotation including Reach, OneSevenFour, !Kaboogie, Breakology, A$$quake, Nic James & the Say What crew. By working together with both local & carefully selected international acts we're aiming to really develop these sounds in Dublin & make MUD a consistent weekly home for bass fans.

Saturdays

Pogo

Saturdays sees the recent relocation of our flagship night POGO, previously in POD for the last 3 years. Our original house club Stereotonic has also slot into POGO on a weekly basis hosting the Stage area & teaming up with the likes of Scribble, Global & Choicecuts pulling together all things house/soul/funk/hip-hop and disco. While POGO Club bumps the Basement with weekly residents Barry Redsetta, Eddie Brennan, Eoin Cregan, FVF Records & monthly Electric Shock parties and international guests focusing on the underground house & techno world.
