POGO Present: IVAN SMAGGHE

Ex-Blackstrober & Dublin fav Ivan Smagghe busts back into the POGO house for a second time, showing who he loves best having cancelled Thursday shows twice on Backlash & Mr Jones ;) Ivan straddles between spacey disco, dark electro-house & techno in a “heroin chic” manner, and coins Andrew Weatherall as one of his biggest influences in electronic music. Now living in London, Ivan is a regular star at Fabric & Bugged Out events and has just recently completed a brand new mix compilation “Cocorico 3” on Mantra Vibe which is being tagged by many as his best mix work to date featuring tracks from DJ Koze, Battles, RadioSlave & Ricardo Villalobos. He has also put out more than a handful of tasty releases, remixes & mixes for top labels such as Eskimo, Kill the DJ, Novamute & Kitsune.

Over in POGO Pub we hook up with the Space Camp crew and drop something a little different with Eskimo recordings disco-house Scotsman – Maelstrom. A big fan of the current underground wave of New York disco coming from acts like Daniel Wang, Prins Thomas & Lindstrom as well as long time legends like Giorgio Moroder & Patrick Cowley. Nic James supports with a more old skool party to vibe to pave the way for Maelstrom.

POGO Live gets it’s drum & bass on with the OneSevenFour crew. Limerick’s Code & Subtle Audio Record’s boss (home to household names like Equinox, Alpha Omega & Fanu) is the main act in the live house tonight. Support comes from Reach resident Synergy, leaving just enough room to squeeze OneSevenFour’s Bonz on the bill. MC Julie is on mic duty – it wouldn’t be a OneSevenFour show without her!
